FAQs
What is the therapy format?

I conduct all of my therapy via Zoom. Therapy, especially in the beginning, is often offered on a weekly basis. Sometimes clients like to test the water or see whether a therapist is right for them. As I personally consider this extremely important, I am more than happy for us to have a session or two initially and you can let me know whether you feel sufficiently comfortable to continue.

Is online therapy as effective as face-to-face therapy?

Yes. I would encourage you to try one meeting and see if this format is workable and comfortable for you.

Do I have to attend a set number of sessions?

No. Once we have together assessed what your needs are, we can consider what model of therapy would be most appropriate alongside the frequency and duration of the therapy contract.

Is payment upfront?

No. Invoicing for sessions that have taken place will be issued at the end of every month.

Is there anything that you don’t work with?

In private practice, it is not possible to work with clients where there is significant risk. Therefore, if you are regularly suicidal or require in-patient care, private therapy may not be the right level of support for you. I am comfortable working with this level of risk within the NHS where I have access to other professionals and facilities, but it is unsafe and inappropriate to work with severe levels of risk in private practice.

What if I also need psychiatric medication?

In England, medical professionals, including psychiatrists and GP’s are able to prescribe medication. I am not qualified to prescribe medication but have close working relationship with a number of psychiatrists who may be able to review and consider with you whether medication might be helpful for you. You might of course feel comfortable speaking with your GP about medication. I would be happy to liaise with your GP or any other medical professional in relation to your care if this was deemed helpful or appropriate.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. There are specific instances where confidentiality cannot be maintained, this includes reporting child and/or domestic abuse, significant harm to yourself and formal legal requests.

Do you need to tell my GP and/or employer that I am working with you?

No, this is not routine practice. If you feel that there is a valid or helpful reason for me to make contact with your GP and/or employer, I would do so with your consent and prior knowledge of any contact. I maintain confidentiality at all times, unless there is sufficient risk to yourself or to others which would mean breaking confidentiality in order to keep yourself and or others safe.

How is my personal data used and stored?

All client data is stored on a secure and trusted practice management system designed specifically for healthcare professionals. Your personal information, session notes, and appointment details are fully encrypted and stored safely. The system complies with strict data protection regulations, ensuring your privacy is always protected.
